Telecommunication giant Bharti Airtel has recorded a loss of 41% in its net income for the three month period ended December 2010.
The company's net income for the said period remained at Rs 1,303.3 crore as compared to Rs 2,194.9 crore during the corresponding period last fiscal.
Bharti Airtel said that feebler margins from its Africa processes and currency instabilities are the major causes behind the slump.
But, the operator's total revenue depicted a major increase of 53% at Rs 15,576 crore as compared to Rs. 10,305.3 crore a year ago.
The average revenue per user (ARPU) of the company remained at Rs 198 during the three month period under review as compared to Rs 202 in the same period of 2009.
At the Bombay Stock Exchange, the scrips of Bharti Airtel were trading up 2.48 percent at Rs 322.40.
