HP makes strong business PC range with a new hybrid and a sleek notebook

Hewlett Packard Printing and Personal Systems Group, India today extended its commercial PC portfolio with the announcement of HP EliteBook Revolve 810 and HP ProBook 430. EliteBook is a touch-enabled notebook that pivots to let users share their work and folds to go mobile as a tablet, and is priced at Rs. 90,000/-.  HP ProBook 430 is a business notebook suitable for everyday use and is priced at Rs. 39,000/-.

Intel launches new Ultrabooks with Ivy Bridge in India

Ivy Bridge is clearly the buzzword at Computex, this year and apart from Intel, every manufacturer worth its salt has an Ivy Bridge offering, be it a notebook or even a tablet. Along with that, Intel has announced their new CPU line-up in India as well for notebooks, desktops and All-in-one (AIO) PCs. The notebooks powered by these CPUs will be available from all major OEMs operating in India, like Dell, Asus, Acer, HP, etc. Also, the Croma chain of retail stores will be amongst the first to receive these new notebooks, so you can have a hands on with them before buying. Slimmer, lighter and hopefully cheaper

Powered by 3rd Generation Intel Core processors, made with the advanced 22nm 3-D tri-gate transistors, these new Ultrabook devices are responsive and more secure to better protect personal information. The new chips also offer increased media and graphics performance, long battery life and more choice in stylish designs. Because of the 22nm tri-gate transistor manufacturing technology the 3rd Generation Intel Core processors now deliver 22 percent faster performance on multi-threaded applications, compared to 2nd Generation Intel Core processors. For example, experiences when using photo editing software or many games will significantly improve based on the new processors. The new Ultrabooks have up to twice the video processing and 3-D graphics performance of the prior generation, cutting a user’s video processing time in half and making for a smoother, richer visual experience. All Ultrabooks with 3rd Generation Core processors will have built-in visuals with features like Intel Quick Sync Video, Intel Clear Video HD, Intel HD Graphics, Intel InTru 3D, Intel Wireless Display and Intel Insider. 

Intel is working across a broad cross-section of the industry to accelerate and enable thin and light designs. A recent and significant breakthrough in chassis design using existing materials and standard injection molding equipment will enable an Ultrabook chassis that is equivalent in quality to machined aluminum and die-cast metal solutions in the market today. Borrowing engineering approaches from the automotive and aerospace industries, the new chassis design has the potential to reduce chassis costs by up to 65 percent and is expected to be in market next year

LG launches new ultra slim Blade series of notebooks

LG has launched two new notebooks in its new Blade Series of notebooks, namely LG P430 and LG P530notebook. LG P430 and LG P530 ultra slim notebook is 50% slimmer than other notebook of the same class. LG P430 and LG P530 bezels are more than 40 percent narrower than other notebooks in the same class.
LG P430 and LG P530 ultra slim notebook comes with second generation Intel Core i7,i5 or i3 processors, NVIDIA Graphics GeForce GT520M, 8GB RAM, and up to 750 GB hard drive. The P430 and P530 other features includes 1.3 HD webcam, WiFi 802.11/b/g/n with DLNA support, Bluetooth 3.0, SRS and DLNA technology to easily share and enjoy photos and videos with other DLNA-enabled devices.

The P430 and P530 has 14-inch and 15.6-inch LED LCD screen respectively with resolution of 1366 x 768 pixel and are available in two colors Misty Blue and Titan Black.

LG P430 will be available at the end of May and the P530 a month later in Europe, Middle East, South America, and Asia. Price is still to be announced.

Samsung Series 9 launched in India

Samsung has launched its ultra-portable, light weight Samsung Series 9 Laptop in India. Samsung Series 9 is made up of Duralumin, making Samsung Series 9 laptop light wight weigh and stronger. Samsung Series 9 weighs only 1.3 kgs and is 16.3 mm thick.

Samsung Series 9 is powered by Intel new Core i5 processor and Intel HD GT2 integrated graphics. Samsung Series 9 features a 13.3 inch LED Backlit display, 4GB RAM, 128GB SSD, Window 7 OS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, USB 3.0, USB 2.0, micro HDMI, Webcam, Gigabit Ethernet, 3 watt (1.5W x 2) stereo speakers, 1.5 watt sub-woofer and 6 cell battery.
The Samsung Series 9 is priced at Rs. 10,00,990 in India.

Acer Unveils Third Gen Aspire Timeline X Laptops

Acer has quietly unveiled new third generation of its Aspire Timeline X series of laptops in Taiwan. New Acer Aspire Timeline X series laptops house new Intel Sandy Bridge platform based Consumer Ultra Low Voltage processors and Nvidia GeForce GT 540M graphics, reported Engadget. The new 13-inch to 15-inch Timeline X series laptops accommodate SuperSpeed USB 3.0 port with independent charging. At the moment, third generation Timeline X laptops would be available in Taiwan only for a price range between $1,135 (Rs. 50,080 approx.) and $ 1,375 (Rs. 60,736 approx.).

Four new Timeline X series laptops include two 13.3-inch models, one 14-inch model and one 15-inch model. All three models sport new Intel Sandy Bridge platform CPU - Intel Core i5-2410M that runs at clock speed of 2.3GHz and can be boosted to 2.9GHz with Intel Turbo Boost. For ultimate multimedia experience, Acer has added Nvidia GeForce GT 540M graphics which serves good enough to play all modern day games. All models pack Kenwood's Dolby Home Theater speakers for better audio.

It goes without saying that these new laptops will have Windows 7 running on them. There's no confirmation on whether these new Timeline X series notebooks would be made available in India. Given the combination of Intel Sandy Bridge and Nvidia GeForce GT 500M series GPU, these new Timeline X series laptops surely look interesting. Their performance can only be determined when they're actually tested.

Fujitsu Launches Lifebook LH530 in India

Fujitsu has launched Lifebook LH530 under the DGS&D RC. What is DGS&D RC, you ask? DGS&D RC or Directorate General of Supply & Disposal, Rate Contract is a very convoluted way of saying that it's cheaper. The LH530 is available in two configurations - one with an Intel Core i3 and the other with an Core i5 processor. The former costs Rs. 39,000, while the beefier one with the Core i5 retails for Rs. 45,760.

Both models come preloaded with Windows 7 Professional and 14-inch LED backlit screen with a resolution of 1366x768. The LifeBook LH530 comes standard with Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR and 802.11N wireless connectivity. The notebooks sport 1.3 megapixel cameras, with built-in microphones hassle free compatibility with Skype and Messenger apps. The LH530 is covered under three year onsite warranty.

HCL ME 1014, ME 1015 Laptops and Infiniti M A365 Pro Desktop Unveiled

Lenovo launches High performance PCs in India

Lenovo, one of the important players in India has launched its latest series of products in India. The latest launch includes IdeaPad (Z570), IdeaCentre, ThinkPads (L420) and all in one ThinkCentres desktops. The new netbooks and PCs from Lenovo are available in price range of Rs. 34,000-Rs. 43,000 in India. The new desktops and netbooks are built on second generation Intel Processor Huron River popularly called as Sandy Bridge platform. Bollywood actress Soha Ali Khan unveiled the newly launched products.

The company launched Lenovo IdeaPad Z570 and Lenovo G570 netbooks. The Z570 netbook is meant for high end consumers and provides high level multi media and graphic experience. The G570 models is targeted for entry level users and powered with all required set of features.

It also offered all in one series of desktops in the market. Lenovo A320, B320 and 520 PCs offers better computing experience, powered with new core processor, LED screen with 1GB graphics. These can be tuned into TV with One Key TV feature.

The company also announced ThinkPad T and L series of laptops which offers superior performance which can play important role in usage for business purpose.

Apple peels covers off new MacBook Pro

Apple has unveiled its much anticipated updates to the MacBook Pro line of laptops, with the highlight being its new connection technology called Thunderbolt. Not to be confused with a new smartphone coming from a rival, STEVEN AMBROSE explains what we can expect from Thunderbolt and what the new MacBook Pro range has to offer.

Apple has unveiled much anticipated updates to its MacBook Pro line of laptops. Early leaks accurately revealed many of the specs of the new models just a day ahead of launch. Three key new technologies stand out: Thunderbolt connection technology from Intel, known as Light Peak until now; the latest Intel Core processors; and new AMD Radeon graphics.

The highlight of the new MacBook Pro line (especially for professional users) is the introduction of the new Thunderbolt I/O standard. The promise of Thunderbolt technology is to move media faster and simplify connections between devices. It combines high-speed data and HD video connections together onto a single cable.

Thunderbolt technology is compatible with existing DisplayPort displays and adapters. All Thunderbolt technology devices share a common connector, and you can simply daisy-chain devices one after another, connected by electrical or optical cables.

Unlike what some early rumours predicted, the new MacBook Pros have essentially the same basic design as their predecessor, and a very similar looking aluminium and glass enclosure with a black bezel around the screen. All the new MacBooks also include the new integrated Intel HD Graphics 3000 GPU, although the 15” and 17” models also offer high-end AMD discrete graphics, which will please the creative set.

Another smart move is a new FaceTime HD Camera, which replaces the built-in iSight camera and offers 720p quality video for FaceTime calls between the new Macs.

The battery life is quoted at around seven hours, which is very good for a laptop, and a range of SSD hard drives and memory upgrades will also be made available – at a price, of course.

The latest update brings the MacBooks right up to date with the latest Intel technology, and the new core processors are much faster than the previous generation. When used for video transcoding and other video tasks, they are significantly faster. In demonstrations at the recent Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, the new entry level Core i5 outperformed the previous generation top end Core  i7.

Sony Rolls Out Sandy Bridge Laptops in many Colors

With Intel's next gen chipsets back on the right track, Sony is wasting little time announcing laptops showcasing the new technology. The S-series, which was announced earlier at CES 2011, will have a second-generation Core processor and AMD graphics. If you fancy bold colors, the C-series is Sony's latest attempt to win over the younger demographic with neon-colored mainstream laptops.
For those who don't have the budget for the Sony VAIO Z series, there's the S-series. Though there's not a single trace of carbon fiber on this unit, the S-series is made from the same magnesium alloy metal found in ruggedized business laptops. The 13.3-inch widescreen is as large as its pricier sibling, though its resolution tops out at 1,366-by-768 (the Z can scale to 1,600-by-900). It has a full size keyboard with backlights, and two design options—wavy black or white.
The S-series gets the Intel Core i5-2410M processor, which is based on Intel's Sandy Bridge technology. Switching graphics is done manually between processor graphics and the AMD Radeon HD 6470M GPU. For SMB customers, Windows 7 Professional and a dock option will be available as well.
The C-Series is broken up into the 14-inch CA-Series and 15-inch CB-Series. Their designs have glowing, see-through attributes and are best described as intensely bright and bold. No, they don't actually glow, but the way the acrylic top catches ambient light makes it seem that way. These laptops are aimed at students and teenagers, giving them an assortment of colors (orange and green among them) from which to choose.
There's more to these laptops than their daring colors. The CA- and CB-series will have backlit keyboards, options for a Blu-Ray drive (CB only), USB 3.0 ports, and a 720p HD webcam. They will be equipped with Sandy Bridge-based Core i5 processors and switching graphics with the AMD Radeon HD 6630M.
The C-Series will be available for pre-order on March 13, starting at $880.

Samsung introduces tablet-laptop hybrid

Samsung introduces new tablet laptop which is the Samsung's new launching product a Windows 7 QWERTY tablet – the Samsung Sliding PC 7 Series slider series is powered by the new Intel Oak Trail processor, the Intel Atom Z670 1.66GHz. It weighs just around 1 kilogram, and has a 10.1-inch screen with 340 nits of brightness and a 1366x768 pixel resolution. Other specifications include 32GB/64GB SSD options for storage, 2GB of DDR3 RAM, USB and HDMI ports, 4-in-1 card reader, ambient light sensor, and an integrated 1.3 megapixel webcam, apart from of course Windows 7 Home Premium.
