Sony Ericsson Cybershot Android Phone

We have been hearing rumors of Sony Ericsson coming with a Cybershot Android smartphone. While the first leaked shot was a hoax, we might have real renders this time. Nothing confirmed still but Cybershot series of Android phone might be a reality after all.
There is no word on the specs, but it looks to have 3.7 inch display, Android 2.3, 16MP camera and front camera.

Buffalo Launches its New 8x Portable DVD Drive in India

Buffalo Technology, a manufacturer of wired and wireless networking and network and direct attached storage solutions, announced the availability of its new Buffalo 8x Portable DVD Drive in India.

Available in a high gloss finish, the ultra slim and compact Buffalo 8x Portable DVD-writer is the ideal companion for a laptop or netbook and is also a high quality alternative to laptop manufacturers’ pricey options.


The affordable drive includes two integrated USB cables that snap to the chassis for easy mobility. Intex introduces HD Media player

Intex Technologies (India) Ltd., an IT hardware, mobile phones and electronics company, has introduced the Mini Home Cinema, a high-definition media player, which allows users to connect digital storage devices such as USBs, hard drives, flash drives and memory cards (SD/MMC) to their television sets. The media player has the versatility to play almost all kinds of video and audio formats.

Intex said the player makes it a boon for users whose TVs do not support all formats and input sources like HDMI, SD Card, etc. and those who find watching movies through a DVD player or on a laptop, cumbersome.

Dell hires UK staff to grow enterprise services

Dell plans to hire more UK staff for its enterprise services division by the end of June 2011.

In the first quarter of 2011, Dell hired 100 staff for its UK offices. Dell had previously hired 190 UK staff in the preceding two quarters. A third of all new recruits were hired for its enterprise and technical solutions and services business division.

Stephen Murdoch, vice-president and general manager of EMEA large enterprise at Dell, confirmed the company was growing its UK team as part of a plan to hire another 800 people across the EMEA region this quarter.

"We are open for business for the best talent in the industry, particularly in enterprise services and solutions. Our hiring plan reflects confidence in our strategy and our desire to hire staff to meet the growing demand we see from our customers in the region," he said.

Murdoch added its intelligent data management service was important for recruitment, as was next-generation hybrid cloud building.

"We're expanding our solutions and services team, bringing in new technology and expertise throughacquisition as well as launching new enterprise-led solutions," added Murdoch.

In its Dell's Q1 fiscal 2012 year results, its enterprise solutions and services accounted for 30% of total $15bn sales. Enterprise services sales to large businesses increased 5% to $4.4bn.

Dell is also investing $1bn in cloud computing servicesin 2011, including UK-based datacentres.

Design and Features

The Silicon Power Stream S10 is flat at the bottom and slightly convex at the top. Modeled on an expensive Italian sports car, the front of the drive has design representing front grilles and the activity LED at the center. As mentioned before, the casing has a matte finish which does not gather fingerprints and it has a pixie-dust touch of style. At just cm, this drive is very slim and it weighs just 145 g, so it is fairly easy to carry it in your coat pocket.

The USB 3.0 port is present at the side of the front end. This port looks like a USB port on the computer, unlike the mini/micro-USB ports usually present on portable hard drives. A power LED is present underneath the translucent window at the front to indicate power and data transfer.

The drive boasts of a 750 GB capacity, which is more than enough for most purposes. There is a 2.5-inch Toshiba MK7559GSXP 750 GB 5400 RPM laptop hard drive with 8 MB cache, inside the enclosure.

Software
The included software are SP Widget for Windows 7/Vista and Norton Antivirus trial version. You can also download a Windows 7 widget for the drive with functions such as backup and data encryption for specific folders. This is widget also lets you update the software and to avail of the special offers with this drive.

Zipmem Launched New 6, 8 GB Flash Pen Drives With Password Protection

Om Nanotech, an Indian manufacturer specialising in memory products, has launched what it claims to be the first 6 GB and 10 GB pen drives in India. Dubbed Zipmem, these drives are priced competitively at Rs 400 for the 6 GB drive and Rs 600 for the 10 GB one. Usually, flash drive capacities are powers of 2 (for example 2, 4, 8, 16, 32...), but the non-standard sizes sported by the Zipmem drives is actually a clever decision on Om Nanotech's part. It ensures that a virtually unknown player in the segment gets its own product niche devoid of any competition from the bigger players. Sizes of 6 GB and 10 GB are perfect to accommodate the 4.4 GB and 8 GB (8 GB drives have slightly less actual storage) filesizes of most standard 720p and 1080p movie rips out there.

Speaking about the products, Director of Om Nanotech, Atul Khosla said, "With our manufacturing plants present in India, we can make modifications in our products on the basis of consumer specific demands and requirements. It's good to see a manufacturer catering to the value-conscious segment without making a beeline for China to source products for cheap. Whether these non-standard pen drives succeed or not, it still underscores the brand's ability to think out of the box.

The thumb drives boast a claimed read speed of 18.5 MBps and write speed of 6.5 Mbps. They can be customised with options for password protection, invisible partitions, and other security features. The Zipmems include an advanced partitioning ability incorporating two or four partitions in a single drive. The four-partition mode allows one read-only partition designated for the AutoRun feature, two read-write partitions, and one hidden partition. The two-partition mode allows segregation of partitions into public or private zones. The former can be protected by a password, and each partition and zone is custom-sizeable.
