Cisco appoints Gary Moore as company's first Chief Operating Officer

Cisco created a new post of COO and also confirmed the appointment of Gary Moore to the position who was executive vice president before this, sources informed.

The COO position did not exist in Cisco before; this designation would require Moore to report on verticals like engineering, marketing, operations and services at the networking giant, sources reported.

Also Cisco reportedly expects the seasoned leader Moore to execute their goals of prioritization and accountability. The appointment will be immediately effective where Moore will hold both the positions at the same time of Vice president and chief operating officer.

Probably Cisco had to take such a step because of recent departures of a number of high profile employee’s including Susan Bostrom, executive vice president and chief marketing officer and Tony Bates senior VP enterprise, commercial and small business group, experts believe.

Cisco had Moore on board in 2001; he had previously worked at Netigy Corp and had a long stint of 26 years at EDS. Also he had a brief stay at Hitachi Data before HDS was formed stemming from a joint collaboration of EDS and Hitachi.
